What is Rational-Emotive Therapy?
A personal and practical guide.
WHAT IS RATIONAL-EMOTIVE THERAPY?
Rational-Emotive Therapy is a theory of personality and a method of psychotherapy originated and developed by Albert Ellis, a clinical psychologist, in the 1950’s. Ellis originally worked as a psychoanalyst, but became dissatisfied with psychoanalysis because it Was, in his words, "inefficient", time-consuming and it did not produce very effective results. Windy Dryden and Jack Gordon demonstrate in clear and accessible language how RET works. They set out the theory and practice of Rational-Emotive Therapy with the help of many examples and exercises and a step-by-step explanation of the rational-emotive treatment sequence. In addition,
the authors explain their own personal involvement in RET in a marvellous final chapter.
